CRYPTOCURRENCY
Cryptocurrency is only ONE TYPE of cryptographic asset.
Most commonly referred to as “CRYPTO” for short.
More broadly, cryptographic assets are part of a transformative technology that reimagines how we document, express, and transact value across local and global communities.
ADA is the principle crypto asset of the Cardano Blockchain Network. Named after Ada Lovelace, an English mathematician, known as the first computer programmer.
CRYPTO WALLET
Somewhat like a bank account for your crypto assets, a wallet is like a vault where you can view and manage your assets.
Crypto wallets communicate and interact with blockchain networks, and provide you with a user-friendly interface to see and manage all of the assets which you own.
Important: Like setting up a bank account, please make sure and follow each step carefully when creating a wallet. Wallets do not “store” crypto… they store the keys to your crypto.
Stake Pool
A stake pool refers to a set of servers (specialized computers) that run special software to create a global blockchain network. The servers are kept online and up-to-date 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, every day of the year. Keeping a stake pool running at all times is critical for a decentralized global network, much like a heartbeat.
CarPool is one of nearly 3000 Cardano Stake Pools. Collectively, we maintain a global blockchain network that is open-source and permissionless.
Cardano Stake Pools must work collaboratively with network users to maintain the function and security of the global network. This is done by pooling the collective power of ADA around a set of servers.
Contribute the power of your ADA through "delegation", a simple process, that is conceptually similar to a vote of confidence for the CarPool servers to perform work on your behalf.
ADA is special, it immediately goes to work for you by enhancing network security, and in return earns ADA rewards. Important note, ADA is always in your custody, the value is never transferred to anyone else.
